Phyllis J.
Crain, 92, died Friday (March 9, 2007) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
She was born
on Nov. 29, 1914, to Charles and Nellie (Goodfield) Weston in Chiswick,
England. At age 2, her family moved to Newton. She graduated from Newton High
School in 1933. She married Harold D. Crain on Jan. 16, 1946, in Wichita. He
died Feb. 16, 1997. She worked in an osteopath's office and a dental office
before retiring from Wilson Drug Store and Moffatts Jewelry in Newton. She was
a member of First United Methodist Church and Rachel Circle of the Church in
Newton. She volunteered with RSVP and the blood mobile. Her hobbies included
crocheting for the church bazaar, oil paintings and photographing sunsets.
Survivors
include a sister Renee Weston of Newton.
She also was
preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation
will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and family will greet friends from 6
p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home and from 9 a.m.
to noon on Wednesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Newton.
Service will
be at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory with Chaplain Denny
Bell officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Garden of Memories in Newton.
Memorials
may be made to National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
