James Eldon
Regier, 76, Died Friday (March 16, 2007) at Select Specialty Hospital of St.
Francis.
He was born
on July 5, 1930, in Hillsboro to Marie (Ewert) and John L.W. Regier. He worked
for the cities of McPherson, St. John and Hillsboro as a lineman. On Aug. 5,
1960, he married Joyce Ollek. He was united in marriage to Marion Wiesner on
May 2, 1981, in Newton. He held a membership with Our Lady of Guadalupe
Catholic Church in Newton. He also was a member of the America Legion Post No.
112, V.F.W. Post #971 in Newton. He served in Korea for the United States Army
from March 1950 to March 1953. His hobbies included jigsaw puzzles, woodworking
projects, his yardwork and a good game of Mexican dominoes with his friends and
family. He also lended a hand at the church whenever needed and really enjoyed
attending the numerous activities of his grandchildren. There was lots of love
and laughter shared at the family dinners and memories created to last a
lifetime. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors
include his wife, Marion Regier of Newton; a son, John Regier and wife Diane of
Newton; grandchildren, Aerielle, Austin, Megan, Michaela and Jordyn Regier of
Newton; daughter, Michelle (Regier) Duerksen and husband Rodean of Newton;
grandchildren, Logan, Trevor and Tanner Duerksen of Newton; daughter, Melissa
(Regier) Lawrence and husband Dane of Newton; grandchildren, Danielle, Matthew
and Kelby Lawrence of Newton; sister, Georgie Ann Schmidt of North Newton;
sister, Eulala Fleming and husband Jim of Hillsboro; and aunt, Ethel and Norman
Abrahams of Newton.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Vernette Regier, a son, James
Regier, and a grandson, Christopher James Regier.
Visitation
will be from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with family present from 6 to 8
p.m. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Newton.
Vigil
service will be at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in
Newton.
Service will
be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev.
Floyd McKinney officiating in Newton. Burial will be at Restlawn Garden of
Memories in Newton.
Memorials
may be made in lieu of flowers to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and
American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.
