Reber, Mary

Mary E. "Mollie" Reber, 85, a lifetime Newton resident and retired sales clerk, formerly of 122 SW 6th Street, died Monday evening, March 22, at Friendly Acres Home for the Aged.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church, of which she was a member.  The Rev. Keith Dudeck will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born July 4, 1896, in Newton, the daughter of James W. and Susan Phillips.  On Oct. 22, 1919, she married Henry B. Reber in Newton.  He died Jan. 19, 1948.

In addition to the Church, Mrs. Reber also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Newton.

She is survived by one son, James H. Reber of Newton; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Reber, in 1970.

Friends may call at Petersen's Funeral Home this evening and all day Wednesday.  The family suggests memorial gifts for the Church.  Memorial gifts may be left with the staff at the funeral home or with the secretary at the Church.
