Stwertnic, Mary
Obituary Notice
Mary Stwertnick was born to Charles Ira and Emma Etta (Manhardt) Rose. She was the second of seven children. Worth Gregory, Mary Elma, Richard Aurel, Frederick Ira, Elmer Perry, Leah Fern, and Lois Merle.
Mary was raised on a farm in Iowa and later the family moved to a 360 acre farm in Harvey County (Newton) Kansas. She was 5'2.5 inches in height. She married Francis Charles (Frank) Stwertnik on Sept. 29,1919 and had three children: Hubert Frank, Charles Beverly and Donna Rosemary.
During WW1 she trained as a telegrapher. Later she worked in Mulvane, KS as the only telegrapher. She lived in Colorado Springs, CO at the time of her death.
