Fall Kills Newtonian

Portland, Oregon - A Newton, Kansas resident died Tuesday when he apparently fell from a freeway overpass in southwest Portland, police report.

The victim was identified as Oswald Rein, 37, of Newton.  Rein died shortly after arrival at a Portland hospital.  He plunged from an Interstate 5 overpass on Southwest First Street.

(A check in Newton could not produce any other identification for Rein).

Pat Bennett, who witnessed the incident, said Rein "was walking along and all of a sudden just fell over the side.  It didn't look like he jumped... He just keeled over."
