Christopher
Cookson, 34, died Monday (March 26, 2007) at his residence in Newton.
He was
diagnosed with muscular dystrophy when he was 6 years old and was one of Jerry
Lewis's Kids. He struggled with this illness throughout most of his life. From
the time he was born, he had love for animals and sports.
Being
originally from Colo., he loved the state and was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
He was an artist and wrote numerous books. He also played the piano and guitar.
When health allowed, he enjoyed playing tennis, swimming, being a Boy Scout,
roller-skating and was even a good ice skater. He especially enjoyed art
galleries in Taos and Santa Fe, N.M.
Survivors
include his mother, Karen (Heine) Lacher and stepfather, Howard Lacher of
Newton; a brother, Nicholas Cookson of Paraguay; a sister, Jenny Cookson of
Virginia; step-sister, Cassandra Lacher of Colorado Springs, Colo.;
step-sister, Erika Lacher of Colorado Spring, Colo.; grandfather, Donald
Cookson and grandmother, Harriet Cookson of Belvue, Wash.; grandmother Joyce Heine
of Newton; and father, Maurice Cookson.
He was
preceded in death by a grandfather, Lawrence Heine.
Visitation
will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
Gathering of
Remembrance will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Service will
at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.

may be made to Caring Hands Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
