Emma Jean Green-Smith
1922 - 2021
Emma Jean Green-Smith, 98, died Monday,
February 8, 2021, in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born in LaJunta, Colorado on
March 9, 1922, the daughter of Eli and Emma (Hall) Noe.
Throughout her childhood and into her
adulthood, Emma enjoyed literary readings, singing and her church
activities.
On December 1, 1940, Emma married Ervol
Lee Green in Andrix, Colorado. Together they had three children,
Gene, Jan, and Carol. Emma and Ervol were married for 47 years at the
time of Ervol's passing in October of 1988.
On December 14, 1996, Emma married
James W. Smith in Newton, Kansas. He preceded her in death in October
of 2008.
Emma enjoyed family gatherings,
crocheting, embroidery, quilting, and her beloved computer.
Emma had a feisty and adventurous
spirit, enjoying summer vacations camping and fishing in the
beautiful Colorado Mountains. When the kids were small, she would
play jacks, jump rope, and hopscotch with them. She was always ready
for something new, especially if it included travel.
Emma is survived by her son, Gene Green
and two daughters, Jan (Dave) Robinson and Carol Green; 10
grandchildren; 21-great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren;
She is also survived by James' son, David (Melinda) Smith; and
daughters, Bev (Dave) Neufeld, Barbara (Gary) Damron and Karen (Tom)
Rorabaugh.
She is preceded in death by her parents
Eli and Emma Noe; brothers, James, Simeon, Victor and Floyd; sisters,
Laura, Dorothy, Betty and Mary.
Emma will lie in state Thursday,
February 11, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Petersen Funeral
Home, 215 N. Main, Newton, Kansas, 67114.
