Cecil Oliver Wilson
Cecil Oliver Wilson, 91, of
Newton, formerly of Arkansas City, died Sunday (January 1, 2006) at the
Presbyterian Manor in Newton. He was born Oct. 23, 1914 to Paul T. Wilson and
Fern (Mason) Wilson in Knowles, OK. They preceded him in death. On April 23,
1942 he married Letha Baker in Arkansas City where the couple made their home.
She survives of the home. He lived in Silverdale as a elementary student and
worked in the flour mills until joining the United States Army. He served from
1941 to 1945 in Europe, the Panama Canal and the Philippines.
Cecil was a electrician for
the Total Pipeline for 31 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in
Arkansas City and the Spencer Ralston Post No. 1254 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Other survivors include: a
son, Jack Wilson and wife Anne of Valley Center; a daughter, Linda Brown of
Mesa, Ariz.; brothers, Robert Wilson of Denver and Lyman Wilson and wife Janie
of Wellington; a sister, Wanda Sue Sundquest and husband Laurin of Blackhawk,
Colo.; grandchildren, Lori (Sapp) Overton and husband Cliff of Newkirk, Okla.,
Angie (Sapp) Tonn and husband Shane of Newton, Chris Zeigler and wife Stacy of
South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Ben Wilson and wife Chelsea of Valley Center and Ross
Wilson and fiancé Stephanie Zimmerman of Manhattan; and 11 great grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death
by: a daughter, Kathy Sapp in 1987; and grandson, Bryon Ziegler in 2000.
Funeral service will be 10:30
a.m. Saturday at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City with Pastor
Gale Rider officiating.
Burial will follow in the
Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City.

established with Hospice Care of Kansas in care of the funeral home, 100 East
Kansas Avenue, Arkansas City, KS 67005.
