Rhea M. Astle

Rhea M. Astle, 98, died Friday (Jan. 27, 2006) at Newton Medical Center. She was born Nov. 14, 1907, to Dr. Tom and Dell Lind in Emporia. They preceded her in death. She was a fifth-grade teacher at McKinley School. She was the wife of W.P. "Buck" Astle, former mayor of Newton. Survivors include: sons, Tom Astle of Orange, Conn., and Dr. J.R. "Dick" and wife Christine of Fort Collins, Colo.; a brother, Owen Lind of Waco, Texas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Laurel Cemetery in Haven with the Rev. Nathan Morgan officiating.
