Shirley Ann (Dorey) Titus
Shirley Ann (Dorey) Titus, 74, died Monday (Oct. 10, 2005)
at Newton Medical Center. She was born April 16, 1931, to Lewis Henry and
Jessie Adeline (Kennedy) Dorey in Newton. They preceded her in death. She
married Gene Titus Feb. 26, 1950, at First United Methodist Church in Newton.
He survives of Newton. She was a homemaker most of her life, Shirley also was a
foster parent. She volunteered at Hospice and worked at SRS as a home
healthcare provider. Shirley was a former teacher's aide in the Newton school
district.
She was a member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church
and a member of the M.E.O. Club of Newton. Her favorite pastimes were spending
quality time with her grandchildren and family, and she also enjoyed painting.
Other survivors include: three sons and their spouses, Bill
Dorey and Sherry of Wichita, and John Michael and Margie and Robert and Mary
Beth, all of Newton; a sister, Jessie Lee Wise of Huntington, W.Va.;
grandchildren, Thain, Uriah, Cree, Maisha, Season, Jasmine, Starla, Lena,
Taylor and Spencer; and great-grandchildren, Quintin, Keila, Kenzi and Zoe.
She also was preceded in death by: brothers, Jack Smith and
Willie K. Dorey; and a sister, Darlene Heffelbower.
Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today with family greeting
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Heights
United Methodist Church of Newton with the Rev. Phil Fischer officiating.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer
Society and United Methodist Youthville, both in care of the funeral home.
