80 friends and family gathered in Colorado to commemorate and
celebrate her life. Carol grew up in North and attended public

In sociology from Wayne State University. She taught at a number of

Popular Feminism in Peru (1966), and Meatpackers and Beef Barons:
Company Town in a Global Economy (1994).
Carol was also an artist. A eulogy
broadcast on radio station WBAI in New York stated, “Shredding tiny
bits of paper into collages, her art chronicled her life of activism,
love in all its forms, and the stories of women and people in

about her art at the Meadowbrook Art Center in rural Newton this last
May.
