John Clay Goetting Sr.
1946 - 2021
John Clay Goetting Sr., age 75 of
Newton, went to his Mansion Over The Hilltop on March 25, 2021. Born
on Valentines Day in 1946 to Rosa Mae (Arnette) and John Willis
Goetting, in Madill Oklahoma. After high school John joined the Navy.
He was awarded for his participation in the Gulf of Tonkin Battle
during the Vietnam War. After the Navy John attended Olkmogee
Technical School. He moved to Heston following graduation to work for
Cities Service Gas Co. At the age of 26 he married Kathleen
(Zieammermann) on June 18, 1972 and they bought a home in Newton, KS.
John worked for Cessna for 31 years.
Upon retirement he enjoyed his hobby of teaching golf. John had many
hobbies over the years: tennis, running and computers but golf was
his favorite. John was preceded in death by his parents John and Rosa
Goetting; his sisters Bonnie Theil, Willa DiMaggio; and brother Buddy
Goetting. Survivors include Kathleen (Goetting) his partner for 49
years, daughters Tammy (Kirksey-Myrah) of Pittsburgh, PA; Lara
(Patterson) of Manhatten, KS; Samantha Goetting of Wichita, KS;John
Clay Goetting Jr., of Newton, KS;Cassandra (Millings) of Newton, KS.
Grandchildren: Morgan Kirksey, Dillon Dennett, Derrek Dennett,
AdamPatterson, Joshua Patterson, Alexandra Owens, TW OwensIII, Isaiah
Goetting, Katelynn Millings, Emily Millings, Lorelai Millings.
John was beloved by all who knew him
and will be deeply missed. He had many talents, but he will mostly be
remembered by his family and friends for his gift of strength, his
unconditional love and his faith in God.
