Wiebe, Ruth

from FG

Ruth E. Harms Wiebe, 86, homemaker, died Thuesday, Feb. 11, 2003. Visitation with family 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Broadway Mortuary. Service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church. Graveside service 2 p.m. Saturday, Grace Hill Mennonite Cemetery, Whitewater. Faspa in the Grace Hill fellowship hall to follow.
Ruth was a devoted wife and mother to her late husband Herbert, and children Martha and Cal. Her family, church, community were her loves. Coming from a large family of eight children, with many cousins, family gatherings were always a joy to her: a chance to cook and serve, and get caught up on the news and sharing. Ruth loved to be with people, and enjoyed children, especially her gandchildren.
As Ruth's health declined her daughter, Martha, lived with her and provided constant care. Through January of 2003, Ruth continued frequent attendance of grandchildren's sports and school events. She enjoyed baseball, attending the NBC baseball tournament with family since the 1960's, and she went to many Shocker, Wranglers, and Wings games.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Cal and Nancy Wiebe, daughter, Martha Wiebe, all of Wichita; brothers, Sylvester Harms of Hillsboro, Irvin Harms of Moundridge, Willard Harms of Peabody; sister, Lillian Leppke of Marion; grandchildren, Andrew, Joel and Lauren, all of Wichita; numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Memorial established with Lorraine Ave. Menn. Church. (Taken from The Wichita Eagle.)
