Gaylon C. Chamberlain

Gaylon C. Chamberlain, 81, died on
Friday (June 11, 2021) at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born January 19, 1940, in
Munday, Texas, the son of Cecil “Buster” Roy and Etta “Bobbie”
Letha (Moore) Chamberlain.
Gaylon joined the U.S. Navy in 1958 at
the young age of 18 and served a four-year tour before being
honorably discharged.
On December 23, 1958, Gaylon married
Belva Jetton in Goree, Texas. In 1971 Gaylon and Belva moved from
Texas to Kansas.
Gaylon spent 42 years in aviation where
he held various positions as a pilot, flight instructor, and was the
Director of Standards for Flight Safety. Gaylon enjoyed teaching and
training individuals to become safe pilots and always believed that
“The best safety device in an aircraft was a well-trained pilot.”
Gaylon enjoyed spending time with
family, golfing, hunting, and taking care of his many farm animals.
Gaylon is survived by his partner Joyce
Nemec, daughter, Dana and her husband Dan Barnard of Newton; son,
Scott and his wife Korri of Lawrence; grandchildren, Rebecka and
husband Ryan Gierhan of Clay Center, Darian and Cooper Chamberlain of
Lawrence, Joshua and his wife Brady Barnard of Bel Aire, Jennie and
her husband Eric Skibbe of Olathe, and Jamie Barnard and his partner
Robin Salley of Colorado Springs; great grandchildren, Ryleigh and
Sawyer Skibbe and Cassidy and Aria Barnard; and many other beloved
family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; wife Belva A. Chamberlain in 2010; brothers, Kenneth Eugene
Chamberlain and Keith Chamberlain.
A visitation will be from 5:00pm to
7:00pm, Thursday, June 17th, at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton,
Kansas. A graveside service will be at 11:00am, Saturday, June 19th
at Goree Cemetery in Goree, Texas.
