Joyce Faye Bergen

Goessel - Joyce Faye Bergen, 77, of Goessel, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at NMC Health Medical Center in Newton. She was born February 6, 1944 in Goessel, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Olga (Schmidt) Pankratz.

She graduated from Goessel High School with the class of 1962. Joyce went on to receive her nurse's degree in Halstead.

Joyce was a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel.

She was united in marriage to Daniel Bergen on August 28, 1965 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. He survives of the home.

Joyce worked as a registered nurse at many hospitals and clinics throughout her career including; Goessel Hospital, St Francis Hospital in Wichita, Presbyterian Hospital in Denver, Axtell Clinic, Bethel Clinic, and Wichita Clinic, all of Newton. She retired in 2009.

Other survivors include her children, Greg (Kim) Bergen of Leawood, and Jennifer Bergen (Mark Wiemers) of Manhattan; four grandchildren, Wyatt and Owen Adams, and Luke and Georgia Bergen; brother, Eldon (Eva) Pankratz of Hillsboro; sister, Ruth Ann Penner of Hillsboro; and brother-in-law, Bob Ratzlaff.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Evelyn, Betty, Violet and Fern; sister-in-law, Ardith Pankratz; and brother-in-law, Willis Penner.

Graveside services will be held at 1:15 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel.
