Joan Rose (Stucky) Ensz, beloved wife,
mother grand and great grandmother went to Heaven on June 5, 2021
from her residence at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton, Kansas.
She was born on the 17th November, 1931, the youngest of 10 children
to Edward T. Stucky and Elizabeth “Bessie” (Libich) Stucky in
Moundridge, Kansas.
Joan, during her childhood and
adolescence went to school in Moundridge. She would often help her
mother clean houses around town and West Zion Mennonite Church, while
her father worked at the grain elevator in Moundridge. As a young
adult she moved to Newton, Kansas where she worked as a secretary for
the Haury Accounting firm. Soon after she met Harry Ensz of rural
Beatrice, Nebraska. Joan and Harry married in 1951 and settled in
Newton where she became a homemaker raised three sons and a daughter.
She would often babysit her grandchildren and great grandchildren,
and worked on various committees and taught children’s Sunday
School at First Mennonite Church in Newton.
Joan is preceded in death by her
parents and nine siblings, Josephine, Jess, Joy, Juanita, Jean,
James, Jon, Junior, and Jane. She is survived by her husband Harry
Ensz, North Newton, Ks of nearly 70 years, her three sons and
daughter, Steven and Marcia (White) Ensz, The Woodlands TX, Bryan and
Nancy (Stucky) Ensz, Lawrence, KS, Kevin and Kerry (Billman) Ensz,
Wichita, KS and Lori (Ensz) and Eric Shelly, North Newton, KS. She
is also survived by the following grandchildren Kelsey (Ensz) and
John Friedman, Kristin (Ensz) and Stephen Martin, Andrew and Erin
(Downey) Ensz, Daniel Ensz, Matthew and Tyler Shelly and Haley Ensz
and great grandchildren Reagan and Parker Friedman, Emma, Lily and
Jack Martin, Nathan and Owen Ensz.
Graveside committal service will be
3:00 p.m., Thursday June 10, 2021 at West Zion Cemetery in
Moundridge, Kansas with Pastors Kay Schroeder and Susan Janzen
presiding. There will be no public visitation but a register is
available 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home.
