Barbara Helen (Nachtigal) Evans
1925 - 2021
Barbara Helen Nachtigal Evans went to
be with our Lord on April 28, 2021, at Sunshine Meadows in Buhler,
KS. She was born on June 23, 1925, at Halstead Hospital in Halstead,
Kansas, to John D. and Helen Barbara (Hahn) Nachtigal. Barbara
attended Halstead schools, graduating from Halstead High School in
1943. On July 28, 1945, Barbara was united in marriage to Ernest
Edgar Evans in Wichita, Kansas. At the time of Ernest's passing on
November 28, 2013, they had been married 68 years. She worked at
Halstead Hospital for 20 years, seven in the Business Office, and
thirteen years as Administrative Secretary to the Administrator of
the Hospital, retiring at age 62. She was a member of Eastwood Church
of Christ in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Barbara is survived by her four
children: Sharie Jo Clutts of Mulvane, Dianne (Keith) Mueller of
Halstead, Mike (Sue) Evans of Hutchinson, and Jill (Steve) Guizlo of
Burien, Washington; fourteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren
and great-great grandchildren, a brother Wilbert (Betty Jo) Nachtigal
of Halstead; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded
in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Ruth Tozier,
son-in-law Eric Clutts, grandson John Clutts, and infant grandson
Jeremy Keith Mueller.
Graveside service will be held on
Monday, May 3, at 1:30 p.m. at Halstead Cemetery, US Highway 50 and
Hertzler Road.
A come and go celebration of life and
family visitation will be held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm in Fellowship
Hall at the Halstead First United Methodist Church, 511 Chestnut, in
Halstead. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required at the
church.
