Stanley A. Mitchell (63) passed away on
Friday, March 12, 2021, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs,
Colorado. He was born in Newton, Kansas on February 23, 1958 to
Clifford L. and W. Irene (Harbour) Mitchell. Stan graduated from
Newton High School in 1976 and moved to Colorado Springs shortly
thereafter. He enjoyed working for Fox Galbraith Lumber Company for
many years. His favorite past-times were socializing with his many
friends at his local hangout, binge-watching classic westerns, and
sharing his Santa-like features and mannerisms with kids who were
fascinated by his aura and appearance.
Stan was preceded in death by both his
parents and his brother, Loren E. Mitchell, all of Newton.
He is survived by his brothers, Michael
D. (Stacy) of Ottawa and James I. of Colorado Springs, two sisters,
Corilee (Ron) Speer of Park City and Melody A. (Doug) Donker of
Newton, his daughter Jennifer, and sons, Zane and Derek, many aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a bountiful of friends who have
all cherished our time with Stan.
Stan was cremated at Simply Cremation
in Colorado Springs. A Celebration of his Life was held with his many
friends at Union Station, with the intention of spreading his ashes
this summer.
Stan has touched us all with his love,
wit and humor and he will be greatly missed.
