Judy Ann Garnett
1940 - 2021
HALSTEAD-Judy Ann Garnett, 81, died May
2, 2021 surrounded by her family at home in Halstead, Kansas. She was
born Jan. 21, 1940 to Helen June and Carl Alan Bensch in Wichita,
Kansas.
Judy was a graduate of East High School
in Wichita. She worked several jobs but her favorites were with
special needs transportation and at Select-A-Seat.
Judy was also involved with the Red
Hatters, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Compassionate
Friends. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending her
grandchildren's sporting events.
She was best known as Grandma Judy, and
then Great Judy by her great grandchildren. Her favorite motto was
"Everything happens for a reason."
Judy is survived by son Leroy (Tina)
Leep Jr. of Wichita, daughter Deb Leep of Kechi, son Stan (Theresa)
Garnett of Halstead; grandchildren Chad (Brandie) Leep of Benton,
Brandon (Angie) Leep of Halstead, Kacy (AJ) Warner of Kansas City,
Korye (Jaimie) Garnett of Bentley, Konner Garnett of Halstead, Karsen
(Abby) Garnett of Halstead, Bryan (Thais) Rodick of Portland,
Michelle Beracha of Florida, 16 great grandchildren, brother Larry
Bensch of Lawrence and sister Toni Trimble of Valley Center.
She was preceded in death by husband
Bill Merrill, daughter Becky Ann Garnett, sister Sharon Hill,
brother-in-law Joe Hill and sister-in-law Arlene Bensch.
A celebration of life will be held at
11 a.m., June 5 at Crossroads Community Church, 225 Main, Halstead.
Luncheon will be provided afterwards at the Halstead American Legion,
201 E. 1st, Halstead.
