Reber, Larry L

The Newton Kansan

Larry L. Reber

1947 - 2021

Larry L Reber, 74, passed away peacefully on his farm Saturday April 10, 2021.

Larry was born on February 20, 1947 in Newton, KS to Lawrence and Mary Alice Reber. He graduated from Newton High School in the Class of 1965. He attended Hutch Community College and Emporia State University.

Larry's business career spanned many years as a car salesman, working for several dealerships in Newton. He married Dee Donatelli in 1994 and they moved to the mountains of Colorado following the birth of their son Cody in 1995. Larry loved the mountains and owned High Country Firewood for five years. In 2000, Larry and his family returned to his hometown of Newton. At that time, he was self- employed selling promotional advertising until his retirement.

Larry was active in sports throughout his life. He loved baseball and was a lifelong Yankees fan. He had many fond memories of his time with friends on the field. In 2012, Larry and Dee bought a small acreage and built a home east of Newton. Larry had two dreams: living in the mountains and on a farm. He often said that all his dreams had come true. Most recently, his love was being a Grandpa to Bennett.

Larry is survived by his wife Dee and son Cody of Newton, his step-son Joseph Donatelli, his wife Kristin, and grandson Bennett of Overland Park. Survivors also include two sisters, Marilyn (Reber) Wallace and husband Edd of Wichita, and Lea Ann Reber of Newton; two nephews and their families.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and both sets of grandparents. Larry was formally married to Jan Goodall for seventeen years.

Larry was a member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton. His wishes were to have a casual service (blue jeans) at the church immediately followed by a celebration. Please join the family at THUMC at 3pm on Friday April 16. The family will greet guests prior to the service and following at the American Legion in Newton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Trinity Heights or the American Legion Post 2 in Larry's memory.
