Julie Ann Caldwell
1959 - 2021
Julia Ann Caldwell passed away
unexpectedly from complications of congestive heart failure and
respiratory failure, April 2, 2021. She was 61 years old.
Born in Oakland, Ca. on June 6th, 1959
to parents Roselyn and Louis Scott, she relocated with her family to
Newton in 1974.
She attended Newton High School and
Hutchinson Jr. College and earned an Associate Degree in Accounting
and Bookkeeping.
Julia endured much adversity during her
life and yet somehow managed to prevail through her strong faith in
Our Lord and Savior and a reservoir of inner strength and
perseverance.
She gave her time, energy and
considerable culinary skills to the local homeless shelter. A bowl of
her seafood chowder was a little slice of Heaven, and a plate of her
Soul Food was an adventure into the Divine.
She was a familiar face for many years
assisting clients at the Newton Salvation Army. She was sometimes
generous to a fault, giving to those in need when she had little of
her own to give.
She was a wife, a mother, a daughter,
sister, grandmother, auntie, cousin, friend and advocate for those in
need, and will be sorely missed by many.
She is survived by 2 sons, Phillip and
Derrick, both of Newton, brothers Michael and Theodore of Newton, a
host of cousins too numerous to count.
A memorial service will be held at All
Nations Church in Newton on Wednesday, April 21st at 1pm, followed by
internment of her remains at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
