GOESSEL — Luella Martha Hiebert, 89, died on Sunday (June 5, 2011) at Salem Home, Hillsboro.
She was born on Jan. 3, 1922, in Goessel to Peter B. and Margaret Franz Nickel. She worked in a mental hospital with CPS. She was a homemaker and did child care for others. She was an active member of First Mennonite Church in Newton.
On Dec. 12, 1941, she married Ernest Hiebert in Goessel. He passed away on May 23, 2007.
Survivors include one son, Bobby James (Brenda) Hiebert of Hillsboro; two daughters, Norma Jean Suarez of Newton and Betty Ann (Joe) Gayle of Hillsboro; three sisters, Esther Schowalter of Burrton, Dorothy Foth of Halstead and Darlene Redinger of Halstead; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Willard and John; one son, Harley Glenn Hiebert; and one granddaughter, Michelle Lene Hiebert.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. ,Wednesday at Miller-Ott Funeral Home in Goessel.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Mennonite Church in Newton. Pastor Joan Boyer will officiate. Burial will follow at Alexanderwohl Cemetery in Goessel.
Memorials may be sent to either Hospice Care of Kansas or Salem House, Hillsboro, in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 303 E. Main St., Goessel, KS 67053
