Rev. Dwight Zuercher
Rockford, IL - Rev. Dwight L Zuercher passed from this life
into the presence of Jesus on June 28, 2021, in Rockford, IL, at the age of 93.
Dwight was born on April 3, 1928, in Newton, Kansas, and lived his years of
childhood and youth with his family on their family farm outside of Benton,
Kansas. With his family, he faithfully attended the Swiss Mennonite Church in
Whitewater, Kansas. At age nine he called upon Jesus Christ for salvation
according to the promises of scripture and began the journey of following
Jesus. In 1953 he was united in marriage to Wilma Harms, of Cordell, Oklahoma.
They shared 67 wonderful years together. They were blessed with two children:
Joan Lynette and Brent LaRoy, seven grandchildren, and seven
great-grandchildren.
Dwight received his elementary and secondary education at
the Benton Public School, Benton, Kansas. He then graduated from Grace Bible
Institute in Omaha, Nebraska; from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South
Carolina; and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
He served as pastor in Atlanta, Kansas; Hillsdale, Oklahoma; Casey, Illinois;
Muncie, Indiana; Bluffton, Indiana; Aurora, Illinois; and Crystal Lake,
Illinois.
He is survived by his daughter, Joan White of Streamwood,
IL; son Brent (Diane) of Flower Mound, TX; and brother Floyd of Elbing, KS. He
is predeceased by his wife, parents, two brothers, one sister, and son-in-law,
Charles D. White.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 in First
Baptist Church, Machesney Park, IL. Burial in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin,
