John R. Sturgeon
John R. Sturgeon, 73, 1008 East 12th, died July 10, 1989, at Hutchinson Hospital. Born Oct. 16, 1915, at Kingfisher, Okla., he married Ruth Harris March 14, 1981, at Hutchinson. A retired engineer for the Sante Fe Railroad, he was a resident of Hutchinson since 1980, moving from Newton.
He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newton, the Knights of Columbus, and the Moose Lodge, Hutchinson. He was also a member of the United Transportation Union and the Kansas Sheriff's Association.
Survivors, wife, of the home, sons, Ronald, Muskogee, Okla., Joe and Pat, both of Newton; daughter Anna Marie Younger, Franklin; Stepdaughter Elaine McCue, 1509 Landon; brother, Roy, Mandeka, Calif., 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and four step-great grandchildren.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Johnson and Sons Memorial Chapel, Knights of Columbus rosary will be immediately following. Funeral will be 10:30 Wednesday at the Johnson and Sons Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Victor Badehle. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
