Robert D. "Wayne" Crider
Newton - Robert D. "Wayne" Crider 82, died July
23, 2021 at Paramount Health and Rehab in Newton, Kansas. He was born January
16, 1939 in Horton, Kansas to Forrest John and Elzaidia Blanche (Wright)
Crider. On September 1, 1961 he married Saundra Kay Lewallen at Wichita Falls,
Texas and she survives.
Wayne was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in
Newton and served his county in the United States Airforce. He had membership
in the American Legion Wayne G. Austin Post Newton.
He retired from the former Hay and Forage in Hesston where
he was a member of the Steel Workers Union.
Wayne was a devoted family man and greatly enjoyed his time
with family and friends. He especially lite up when his grandchildren came to
visit him. He was a creative hardworking man with a quiet wit. He could often
be found fishing, hunting or wood working his shop. He had a love of movies and
was seen so frequently at Blockbuster video he received a Christmas card.
Wayne is survived by his wife Saundra of the home; daughter
Kim (Jeff) Hasty; sons Steven (Juana) Crider and Mark (Linda) Crider. He is
also survived by brothers and sisters: Verda (Joe) Jacobson, Nancy Crider, Jean
Banks, David (Janice) Crider, Cathi Bickford, and Terry Crider; 11
grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also
survive.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters Yvonne
Gormley, Patricia Rodvelt, Verla Crider and Rita Crider
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday August 14,
2021 at Salem United Methodist Church with The Reverend Willy Banza
officiating. Graveside service with Air Force Honor Guard will follow at
Greenwood Cemetery Newton.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to Good
Shepherd Hospice or The American Heart Association in care of Petersen Funeral
Home.
