Joseph (Joe) William Myers

Joseph (Joe) William Myers died on August 12, 2021 at his
home in Neosho Rapids, Kansas.
He was born October 5, 1922, in Faulkner, Kansas (Cherokee
County) to William W. and Ina (Boyes) Myers. In 1968 he married Dorothy Mahan
who survives. Joe grew up in the Galena, Kansas area and attended Brush Creek,
Hickory Grove and Empire schools in the area.
He served in the US Army Infantry during WWII in North
Africa and Italy for which he was awarded a Bronze Star. Joe was a life member
of the Newton VFW post #971.
He retired from Wonder Bread Bakery in Wichita in 1984 where
he was a diesel mechanic and transport driver. Joe was a member of the Plymouth
Congregational Church of Sedgwick.
Joe leaves one son, George Myers of Nob Hill, Arkansas;
nephew, Bobby Myers of Baxter Springs, Kansas, as well as several
grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry and Luis Myers;
granddaughter, Trena Jo Myers; daughter-in-law, Joan Myers; son, Carl J. Myers
of Missouri; and step-son, Michael Rice.
A funeral service will be at 10:30a.m., Saturday, August
28th, at Plymouth Congregational Church of Sedgwick, 402 N. Commercial Ave,
Sedgwick, Kansas. A graveside service will follow at Hartford Cemetery, 2200
Road 90, Hartford, Kansas.
