Mary Maude Ray-McClanahan
Mary Maude Ray-McClanahan, was born on December 25, 1942 in
Emporia, Kansas. Mary married Royce McClanahan in 1962 and had three children,
Brian (deceased) Danelle Lynn and Arecia (deceased).
Mary was educated in the Newton, Kansas School System where
she was in the high school band and first chair on the saxophone. She received
her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Emporia State University and a
Master's of Science Special Education from Kansas State Teachers College. She
also took graduate courses in education at Columbia University in New York.
Mary was a professor at East Stroudsburg University for thirty-one years. She
was a professor in the Special Education department, taught teacher education
courses and supervised student teachers. She was passionate about playing
baseball with her department's summer league and serving dinner to ESU men's
basketball team once a year.
Mary was a member of Stroudsburg Seventh-day Adventist
Church where she was a member of the choir. She was also a member of Hillcrest
Seventh-day Adventist Church in Port Murray, New Jersey. Mary enjoyed
decorating, shopping, and keeping up with the latest films. She is survived by
her daughter Danelle McClanahan, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, her sister
Paula Ray and brother George Ray of Newton, Kansas, two nieces, three nephews
and a host of great nieces and nephews, and 5 godchildren in Colorado and
Pennsylvania and a host of dear friends.

The memorial service will be celebrated on Sunday, August
29, 2021 at Stroudsburg Seventh-day Adventist church, 2001 West Main St.
Stroudsburg, Pa 18301 at 3PM located at 2001 West Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA
18360. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed
via the Church's website https://www.stroudsburgsda.org/watch
