Mark Spencer Hall
Newton - Mark Spencer Hall, age 70, of Newton, Kansas,
passed away August 20, 2021, at his home. He was born November 3, 1950, in
Hays, Kansas to Raymond C. and Portia E. L. (Redpath) Hall, the eldest of five
children.
Mark attended all 12 years of his early education in
Quinter, Kansas, graduating in 1968. Mark was united in marriage to Colleen
June Albin in Quinter, Kansas on January 2, 1972. Their 38-year marriage was
blessed with two children. In 1973, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from
Kansas State University and taught high school students in Logan, Kansas. In
1975, he earned a Master's degree in Education and Counseling from Kansas State
University and became the high school guidance counselor in Sterling, Kansas.
There, his daughter, Michelle was born in 1977 with serious medical issues, and
his desire to help people expanded to include medicine. In 1981, his son Ryan
was born. In 1983, he graduated from the University of Kansas School of
Medicine, and the family moved to Wichita, Kansas, where Mark completed his
Family Practice Residency at St. Joseph Medical Center. Dr. Hall established a
family practice clinic in Hesston, KS in 1986, where he served the community
for 33 years, retiring in August of 2019.
Mark loved his occupation as a family practice doctor, for
it incorporated the treatment of a patient throughout their life changes.
"Doc" always took time to listen, genuinely cared for each person,
and wasn't afraid to push the envelope in offering the best treatment
available.
After Colleen's death on June 20, 2010, Mark married Eloise Denise
(Albin) Tichenor, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Together, Mark and
Eloise enjoyed 10 years of marriage, hiking, and travel together, delighting in
the beauty and splendor of God's creation.
There is no doubt that Mark was a fully devoted disciple of
Jesus Christ. His life reflected the love of Christ, the joy of the Lord, and
the divine energy of the Holy Spirit. He was a man made for friendship. He
loved life, he loved people, and he enjoyed sports—particularly golf. Mark was
generous with his time, talents, gifts, and service—traveling on a medical
mission trip to the Ukraine in 2012.
Survivors include two children, Michelle Erin Hall of
Newton, Kansas; Dr. Ryan Douglas Hall and wife Katie (Johnson) Hall of Hesston,
Kansas; grandchildren, Anya June Hall and Jack Anthony Hall of Hesston, Kansas;
wife, Eloise Hall, of the home; and stepdaughter Leslie Black, of Salina,
Kansas. He is also survived by a sister, Isabel (Hall) Flora and husband Paul
Flora of Olathe, Kansas; and a brother, Raymond W. Hall and his wife Christie,
who currently reside on the island of Bohol in the Philippines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond C. and
Portia E. L. (Redpath) Hall; his first wife, Colleen June (Albin) Hall; a
sister, Margaret (Hall) VanDolah; and a brother, Allen A. Hall.
