Rose, Robert

Obituary

Robert was the son of Mr. & Mrs Len. A. Rose, Robert "Bob" was born Feb.7th 1924 in Newton, Kansas, attended Cooper and Newton High School. before entering the service he worked for the Postal Telegraph and later was employed at Hetzel's Dry Cleaners.

Enlisting at Wichita Kansas, Sept. 28th 1942, taking most of his training in the south, he served at Camp Blanding Florida, Camp Forrest, Tennessee and Camp Atterbury, Indiana, He also went to Scout and Messenger school and Radio test school while in training.

He shipped out for England in February 1944 and was across just a short time when the invasion started.

Private 1st Class Robert L. Ross was killed in action June 18th 1944 (which was Fathers Day that year) in the European theater. He was serving with the Old Hickory Division.
