Caystano J. "Jesse" Garnica

Halstead - Caystano J. "Jesse" Garnica, 80, died Thursday, September 9, 2021 at NMC Health, Newton.

He was born August 7, 1941 at Newton to Carmen N. and Francisca (Porras) Garnica, Sr.

He was a lifelong Newton and Halstead resident and retired from materials at Spirit Aerosystems.

He attended Grace Mennonite Church, Halstead.

On September 23, 1960 he married Rosie N. Terrones at Newton. She preceded him in death.

He then married Maxine M. Wiggers May 15, 1992 at Newton, she survives of the home.

Other survivors include son: Michael Garnica, Newton; daughters: Nancy Jaso, Newton; Chrissy (Mike) Smith, Park City; brothers: John Garnica, Pennsylvania; Julian (Carla) Garnica, Wichita; Gene (Angel) Garnica, Newton; Carmen Garnica, Jr, Canyon City, CO; sister: Margaret Jaso, Valley Center; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson: Roczen Nordstedt; brothers: Victor and Jack Garnica; and sister Bertha Briseno.

Jesse was a kindhearted person who was always willing to help out anyone in need.

His smile, laughter and the stories he told will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 pm Monday September 13, 2021 at Kaufman Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30-8:00.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Grace Mennonite Church, Halstead.

Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Newton, KS.

Memorials may be given to Grace Mennonite Church or Caring Hands Humane Society in care of

Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
