James W. Manes 94, died
October 28, 2021 at Pleasant Hills Comfort Care Home in Hutchinson,
Kansas. He was born on October 19, 1927 in Camden, Missouri to Daniel
and Eula (Lane) Manes. On September 13, 1953 he married Helen Manes
in Wichita, Kansas and she preceded him in death on September 21,
2012.
He served his country in the United
States Army during WW II.
James was a long time active member of
the First Church of the Nazarene in Newton. He served the church in
many capacities including as Sunday School Superintendent and a
church board member.
He was the retired co-owner of Bud and
Steve Auto Service in Newton and was a member of the Newton
Kiwanis Club. He also taught hunter safety education classes. James
could be found relaxing watching sports on TV or gardening. He also
enjoyed hunting. Family was important to James and he enjoyed time
with his loving friends and family. He was known for being a man of
integrity, dependability and was always friendly and outgoing.
James is survived by his son James D.
"Dave" (Elia) Manes; daughters Judith "Judy"
(Pat) Weyrauch and Patricia "Pat" (Randall) Turner. He is
also survived by a brother Don Manes; sister Zella Lee Prouty; 9
grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents,
wife and 3 sisters Blonzie Helms; Geraldine Orr; Della Lou McCann
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m.,
Monday November 8, 2021 at First Church of the Nazarene in Newton.
Visitation with the family will be 11:30 a.m. to service time at the
church. Burial will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory rural
Newton, Kansas.
