Tom Henderson went home to be with
his Lord Jesus on November 4, 2021. It was a good trip, but it's always
good to "Come Home".
He was born in West Virginia, Tom entered the
U.S. Air Force in 1950, serving Honorably as a Medic/Radiologic
Technologist in both the Korean War and Vietnam War, retiring in 1973
as a Tech Sargent. He married the love of his life, Norma
L. Albright on February 5, 1955.
After his retirement from the United
States Air Force, Tom worked as the Director of Radiology at Hertzler
Clinic until 1986, as well as founding N. T. And H. Enterprises,
Silver Recovery Service along with his wife Norma in 1979.
Over the years, he served as Committee
Chairman for BSA Troop 363 at Clark AFB Philippines, and BSA Troop
125 Halstead Kansas, as a Reserve Halstead Police Officer #216 and
Harvey County Sheriff Deputy #916, as well as serving on the Halstead
Ambulance Service from 1974 thru 1986. He and son Daniel Henderson
were both in "The Class of One" for EMT's in Kansas. He was a Life Member of the Kansas
Society of Radiology Technologists and served doing Joint Reviews at
various Hospitals across America. He was also an American Legion Member
(Post 4) and thoroughly enjoyed advocating for and encouraging and
assisting young men and women to attend the Kansas American Legion
Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Programs as well
as the Kansas American Legion Cadet Law Academy.
He attended countless Boy Scout
Outings, Girl Scout Outings, Baseball Games, Football Games,
Wrestling Matches, Basketball Games, Swim Team Matches, Baton
Twirling Competitions, Band and Music Concerts, frequently
volunteering or helping to provide needed supplies, transportation,
and in the case of Wrestling, hundreds of rolls of movie film of the
various Halstead Wrestling Team Matches during the first years of its
existence. He wasn't "Perfect", but he
always did his best to be the Neighbor he'd want to have, and at
times worked multiple jobs and worked hard to provide for the needs
of his family.
He will be missed by Family, Friends
and Associates. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Gaines and Alice Henderson, 13 brothers and sisters, his Wife of 46 years and Mother of his children Norma Henderson, son Daniel Henderson, and wife Annette Henderson. He is survived by his son Kevin (Diane) Henderson, daughter Lori (Rick) Rose, daughter -in-law Lois (Dan) Henderson, grandchildren Samantha Henderson, Victoria Rose, Thomas Rose, Kayla Thomas, Brandon Thomas, and Dana Cannady, two great-granddaughters, and numerous "velcroed" Kids including John (Melissa) Sell, Dave (Debbie) Hoofer and a multitude of USAF Airmen over the decades that were always welcomed into Tom and Norma's Home.
