Robert "Bob" Fields
1938 - 2022
Newton - Robert "Bob" Fields
83 years old passed away, January 18, 2022 at home surrounded by his
family. He was born May 18, 1938 to William "Bill" and
Hallie (Green) Fields in Drexel, Missouri. The family moved to Kansas
when Bob was 5 years old. Bob graduated from Newton High School with
the class of 1957.
April 25, 1986 Bob married Kim Schill.
She survives. He was the Press Foreman at The Daily Spectrum in St.
George, Utah when he retired in 2001. After Bob's retirement, he and
Kim returned to Newton to be closer to family and friends.
Bob was an avid bowler. He taught his
two grandsons, Treyton and Cole how to be great bowlers. They learned
to 'count boards' from an early age. They loved and respected their
Grandpa and learned many valuable lessons from him. Last year they
all got to bowl on a league together. It was the highlight of
"Grandpa's" bowling years, especially when they beat him.
He was very proud of their accomplishments. Bob bowled in the senior
leagues at Eastgate Lanes. He so looked forward to bowling each week.
He was quite the jokester too. He loved putting the crap on Barb and
Cecil. In the summer he partnered with 'Doc' Kruse; he really enjoyed
that. All of his kids and grandkids remember his "Falling Rock"
stories growing up while driving through the mountains. He also had a
ton of "Confucius Say" jokes.
Bob was very close to his two brothers,
Benny and Alfred. After they all retired they decided to do extensive
research on their FIELDS family Tree. They went to Tennessee,
Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and all over Kansas to hunt down
cousins, get documents, pictures, and walk cemeteries looking for
graves. They always came home with great family pictures and
"stories."
