Robert Gene ?Bobby? Dyck died peacefully at the Halstead Health and Rehab Center in Halstead, Kansas on March 6, 2022.
Bob was born to Alvin and Luella Dyck on July 27, 1950 at the Newton Hospital. During his young life, the family moved various places around Kansas, but Bob did get to go to the Meadowlark grade school east of Moundridge, Kansas. He went to Moundridge High School. On March 30, 1974, he married Mary Ruth. Their son, Cody Gene, was born Nov. 8, 1990 and the three moved east of Moundridge to the Dyck home place and later to Burrton, Kansas, where Bob still lived. Bob started working for Dave Goering in western Kansas. He then started working for Rhodes Construction and then cross country trucking for Lechington, Dahlstein and Crete.
Bob always had a smile on his face with a cigar in the mouth and a joke was never far behind. When he retired, he had a job of dog walking. What a perfect job for someone who knew no stranger. Going fishing with Cody or anyone he could get to go was an ideal day. Cody and his dad spent a lot of time together and Bob loved to cook out on the grill for family and friends. The more the better, and how delicious it was!
Bob leaves a son, Cody Dyck, of Burrton, sister Jeanette Dyck of Great Bend, Kansas, and a brother Gerald Dyck of McPherson, Kansas. Many nieces, nephews and cousins will miss Bob?s humor! Bob?s parents both passed away. Alvin in February of 2001 and Luella in December of 2006.
Celebration of life will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the Flickinger Building at 333 E. Adams., Burrton. Barbecue will be served, so please RSVP if you are attending by March 17 by calling 785-493-1848. A memorial has been set for American Cancer Society in care of Baker Funeral Home of Valley Center, Kansas.
