Richard W. Smith 81, died on March 15, 2022 at Paramount
Health and Rehabilitation in Newton, Kansas.
He was born January 11, 1941 in Pueblo, Colorado the son of William V.
and Pearl (Larsen) Smith. He attended
school in Goodland, Kansas.
After school he went to work for the Atchison Topeka and
Santa Fe Railroad, where he worked for 40 plus years. He took leave from the railroad and served
two years in the army from 1963 to 1965. Following his active duty service he
continued serving his country twenty seven years in the Army Reserves. Richard was a member of the American Legion
Post #2, Newton, Kansas.
Survivors include a brother Galen Smith (Betty), sisters
Eleanor Sendek, and Crystal Black.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside committal service will at 11:00 a.m. Saturday,
March 26. 2022 in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory rural Newton, Kansas.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday March 25. 2022 at Petersen Funeral
Home.
