Ivan Lamar White, 82, of Hesston,
Kansas, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Schowalter Villa. He was
born December 7, 1939 in Newton, Kansas, the son of Allen A. and Edna
(Horst) White. Ivan grew up in Wichita and near Peabody.
He graduated from Hesston College High
School with the class of 1958. Ivan later attended Hesston College
for two years and then attended Bethel College in North Newton, where
he graduated from in 1967.
He was united in marriage to Twyla Fae
Selzer on September 8, 1962.
Ivan owned and operated White Oak
Enterprises, where he worked in residential carpentry in Hesston,
Newton and Elbing. For 15 years, he taught Industrial Arts at Berean
Academy in Elbing.
He was a member of Whitestone Mennonite
Church in Hesston. Ivan and Twyla volunteered at Rocky Mountain
Mennonite Camp in Divide, Colorado. They also helped with Mennonite
Disaster Services (MDS).
Ivan is survived by his wife, Twyla of
Hesston; son, Bruce (Melody) White of Palisade, CO; daughter, Gwen
White of Greenwood, IN; six grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren; four brothers, Donald (Betty) White of Chevy
Chase, MD, Roger (Sherry) White of Hesston, Darwin (Theresa) White of
Troy, AL, and Virgil (Diane) White of Hesston; and sister, Colleen
White of Hesston.
He was preceded in death by his
parents.
Cremation is planned and a celebration
of life service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022 at
Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston. Following the service, a meal
will be provided at the church. Memorial contributions may be made
and mailed to Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp, 709 County Rd 62,
Divide, Colorado 80814 or a donation may be made on their website at
