Halstead - John K. ?Jack? Ratzlaff,
86, died Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born November 23, 1935 at
Newton, KS to Arthur George and Lydia (Gunther) Ratzlaff.
He graduated from Newton High School in
1954 and attended El Dorado Junior College where he played football
for two years.
During his working life he was plant
manager for Skyline Homes in Arkansas City, Halstead, and was general
manager at the Brighton Colorado plant. The family returned to
Halstead and Jack retired as general manager of the Idaho Timber
plant, Halstead.
He was a member of First United
Methodist Church, Halstead and served on the Wedgewood Golf Course
Golf Board, and as treasurer of Lakin Township for many years. He
followed fervently the Halstead Dragons and attended all of the
grandson?s activities and games. He also was a Shocker and Jayhawk
fan.
He bred and raced quarter horses and
was a member of the American and Kansas Quarter Horse Associations,
loved to hunt and fish and upon his retirement opened a Western Art
Gallery and Framing Shop on Main Street. He was also a skilled
furniture maker and wood worker.
On December 29, 1955 he married Ann L.
Hague at First Baptist Church Newton, KS, she survives of the home.
He is also survived by his son: Steve
(Missy) Ratzlaff, Halstead; daughter: Kimberlee Ratzlaff,
Lawrenceburg, KY, 4 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren.
Cremation has taken place.
Inurnment and committal services are
scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2022 at Halstead Cemetery, a
memorial service will follow at 2:00p. m.at First United Methodist
Church, Halstead.
Memorials may be given to Dragonbackers
or First United Methodist Church in care of Kaufman Funeral Home,
Halstead.
