Thomas Edward ?Ed? Brault Sr., age
75, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2022 at Kidron Bethel
Healthcare Unit, North Newton, KS. Ed was born on March 7th, 1947 to
Eli E. and Josephine M. Brault.
Ed was a Hill City, KS Jaycee, and
after moving to Newton, KS he became a Newton Jaycee. Ed enjoyed
working on all the Jaycee projects, but enjoyed being ?Santa? for
many years. He also enjoyed working with his second wife Anna (Marty)
on the Haunted House program for several years.
Ed and his wife also worked for Ed?s
cousin Vince Berland and Paul Berland on Vince?s Flying Eagles
Greyhound farm in Abilene. This was to be Ed?s favorite job. He
loved working with the greyhounds and working out doors. Ed and his
wife left Flying Eagles due to his health starting to decline. Ed
worked for Gary?s Western Auto in Plainville, KS until he was
diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and was forced to retire at
the age of 62. Ed and his wife moved to Plainville in 2010, then to
Kidron Bethel in North Newton, KS where Ed?s health declined to
where he could no longer take care of himself.
He entered Kidron Bethel Healthcare
Unit on March 17, 2019. During his 3 year residence, Ed enjoyed
calling Bingo to the residents, visiting, reading and writing letters
for some of the residents living there. Ed could be counted on to
always be cheerful, always be smiling and always enjoyed every visit
with the Kidron Bethel staff and his neighbors. Thanks to the nurses
and staff, Ed and his ex-wife were able to enjoy each others company,
until 2020 when Covid-19 closed the nursing home to visitors. The two
enjoyed writing lots of letters to each other, as well as talking to
each other by phone calls.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents,
brother Levi Brault and Ed?s eldest son Thomas Brault Jr.
As a Disabled Navy Veteran, Ed has
asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out
to Midwest Battle Buddies and left in care of Petersen Family Funeral
Home. Midwest Battle Buddies is a nonprofit that provides service
dogs and training to Veterans at no cost to them.
Per Ed?s wishes, no service has been
planned and cremation has taken place.
