Janet L. Daily 61, died Wednesday May 11, 2022 at her Newton
residence. She was born on March 10, 1961 in Wichita, Kansas.
She met the love of her life in 1985 at a crime prevention
seminar in Wichita and on March 10, 1986 she married Jim Daily in Wichita and
he survives of the home. She was a graduate of East High in Wichita, Allen
County Community College and National College.
Janet was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in
Newton.
Janet led a life as a servant leader. She served several
Kansas communities as a police officer including Humboldt; Clearwater where she
earned the rank of Deputy Chief and worked with children in the DARE program;
and Hoisington. She also worked in the central Kansas community corrections as
an intensive supervisory corrections officer. She later worked in the Barton
County Attorney's office in Great Bend.
Janet was active in the St. Mary Parish where she practiced
active faith working as the food service manager and substitute teacher at the
school, as a Sachraciston and Eucharistic Minister. Many people in Newton will
remember Janet for her time working at the South branch of the former First
Bank of Newton.
Janet's greatest joy was being a wife, mother and aunt. She
loved caring for her family. She often baked wedding and birthday cakes and
shared paracord bracelets she made. She also enjoyed the hunt to add to her
collection of collectable plates and spoons many dating back to the 1950's.
Whatever relationship you had with Janet she was your friend.
She is survived by her husband Jim of the home; daughter
Alex; son's Scott and Jason Daily; mother Theresa McPhail; brother Tom Oswald
and sisters Cindy Holt and Tammy Pagget. She is also survived by 6
grandchildren and numerous nieces nephews and friends.
Janet is preceded in death by her sister Tonya Dudly
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 6:00 p.m., Monday May
16, 2022 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. The Family will receive friends from
6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. following the Rosary at the funeral home. Mass of the
Resurrection will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic
Church Newton with The Reverend Nicholas Voelker, Celebrant. Burial will follow
in the St. Mary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary School or Good Shepherd
Hospice in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
