Jackie ?Jack? Lee Mitcham, 89, died on May 27, 2022.
He was born January 23, 1933, in Basin, West Virginia, the
son of Patrick and Hazel (McKinney) Mitcham, Jack attended Oceana High School,
graduating with the class of 1951. Following his graduation he served 4 years
in the United States Airforce.
Jack was a retiree from the Santa Fe Railroad after working
there for over 40 years.
Jack was united in marriage to Christine Brandal and she
preceded him in death.
Jack enjoyed birds, chess, poker, collecting antiques, and
music, especially blues. If he wasn?t spending time enjoying one of his many
hobbies, he was usually found studying his bible and worshiping God.
He was a talented musician, who played in a band for many
years. Jack was unable to read music, but was able to learn music by ear.
Jack is survived by his sons, Daniel and Robert Mitcham;
granddaughters, Olivia and Tera Mitcham; and grandsons, Gabriel Stoval and
Brian Mitcham.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Mitcham;
parents, Patrick and Hazel Mitcham; daughter, Michelle ?Shelly? Wilmore; and
son, Ricky Mitcham.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday June
6, 2022 at Halstead City Cemetery in Halstead, Kansas with Military Honors from
McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday June 5, 2022 at Petersen Funeral Home.
The Mitcham family would like to extend our gratitude to all
the staff at Newton Medical Center, Good Shepherd Hospice, and Eldorado Care
and Rehab for their attentiveness and loving care.
