John Rosalez

John Rosalez, 73, died August 2, 2022 at NMC Health in Newton. He was born March 8, 1949 in Newton, Kansas to Apolonio and Margarita L (Balandran) Rosalez. On December 5, 1992 he married Juanita Arrellano and she survives of the home.

John was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton and retired as a maintenance supervisor for Wichita State University.

John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. A witty man John was, he was always quick with answers and could make anything humorous. During spring and summer you could catch John watching Women?s College World Series Softball games. He had a love for softball, umpiring games when he was younger. John also had a love for music, which found its way quickly into John?s heart from a young age. He later joined a band in which he sang, played congas, and also played the timbales; he was in this band for 58 years. John was kind to everyone and enjoyed talking to others about anything and everything. He donated much of his free time to helping and spending time with his family. He gave so much love to those around him; a very caring person John was.

He is survived by his wife Juanita of the home; son Jon Stephey (Ashley Janzen); daughters: Christina Rosalez (Eric Ramos); Tiffany Stephey; Pepper Stephey (Jason Leal); brothers: Apolonio Rozalez and Jose Rosales; and sister: Mary Sanchez. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

John is preceded in death by his parents, sister Lori Mosqueda and brother Jose Rosalez Graveside committal service will be 9:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Newton with The Reverend Jorge Lopez presiding. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Church.

Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
