Clyde Justus ?Tony? Platt was born
January 13, 1940 in Toronto, Kansas to Clare A. Platt Sr. &
Annetta V. (McCoy) Platt. He passed away Saturday, August 6th 2022,
in Newton, with his family at his side.
Clyde spent most of his youth in South
Eastern Kansas, fishing and trapping small game with his brothers.
This led to a lifelong love of fishing and enjoying the outdoors.
In 1965 he moved to Newton where he met
and married the girl next door, Wanda Glass and for the next 57 years
they spent time traveling and with their most loving family.
Clyde was very good with his hands and
was definitely a jack of all trades, he loved a challenge and always
could figure out any problem.
He spent several years driving a truck
for other companies and as an owner operator.
In 1977 he went to work for Excel Ind.
as a shear operator and received many promotions, his last being a
customer service representative to which he was very good at, telling
people how to fix their mower problems sight unseen. He retired in
2003 to do many honey do?s and of course fish.
He leaves behind his wife of the home;
one son, Tony Platt and wife Venita of Wichita Falls, TX; three
daughters, Charlotte Wilson of Seminole, Alabama, Jodi Runnells and
husband Jim of Newton, KS, and Lori Vandever and fiance Dan Shaffer
of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren, Christy Stargell, Michael Wilson,
Tory Runnells, Leslie Smith, Derick Platt & Trey Runnells; twelve
greatgrandchildren, Jeremy & Kylee Martin, Lacy & Tyler
Wilson, Elisha & Jonah Van Hulle, Blake & Jackson Platt,
Leona & Anton Runnells, Logan Mills & Adam Smith; brothers &
sister-in-laws, Clare & Sharon Platt Jr., John & Dorothy
Platt, Jim Platt, Preston & Nancy Platt; brother and
sister-inlaw, Phillip Glass and Barbara Raner; many nieces &
nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his
parents; step-mother, Laverne Platt; two brothers, Jerry & Jack
Platt; son-in-law, Clinton ?Tiger? Wilson; mother &
father-in-law, Myrtle and Dale Glass; and brother-in-law, Alex Glass.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday,
August 12, 2022, at Petersen Funeral Home, 215 North Main, Newton,
Kansas,. Visitation with family will be at the funeral home the
evening prior on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m.. Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery one mile west of Newton on
highway 50.
