Kevin Kent Pfeifer passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July
20, 2022, at the age of 67.
Kevin was born on Dec. 20, 1954, into the loving family of
Betty and Simon Pfeifer, where he had three sisters and a brother.
Growing up, Kevin enjoyed playing baseball, fishing and
hunting. After graduating from Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Kevin went on to follow his
passion for baseball and became an outstanding pitcher in the National Baseball
Congress. Shortly after, Kevin began working for Godfather?s Pizza, which
inspired him to start his own business. In 1978, Kevin developed Gambino?s
Pizza in Parsons and helped family members and several associates into the business.
Over the next several years, Gambino?s expanded with another 25 franchised
stores.
During that time, Kevin fell in love and married Valerie
Delfin and went on to raise his boys. With the persistent spirit of a true
entrepreneur, Kevin continued to open other pizza concepts with the final one
being Kilroy?s Pizza in Sedgwick 27 years ago. This was his final business,
which he passed down to his sons. His legacy will live on as a devoted father
of three and stepfather to two, all of them boys and a warmhearted ?Papa? to
four grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his friendly conversation,
generosity and general fervor for life.
He is survived by sisters, Deanna Cartwright, Vicki Humphrey
and Maria Seiler; brother, Daniel Pfeifer; sons, Joshua, Mike and Christopher
Pfeifer; and stepsons, Jeremy Pfeifer and Jason Satterfield.
Viewing was from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, at
Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. The Rosary was at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 26,
and the Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, both at St. Elizabeth
Ann Seton Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
