Marilyn Sue (Prouty) VanRossun
Marilyn Sue (Prouty) VanRossun, age 84,
passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at her home in Paramount
Community Living and Rehab of Newton, Kansas. She was born August 12,
1938 in Newton, KS. and was one of eight children blessed to the late
Wilbur and Wilhelmina (Weigand) Prouty of Hesston, KS.
Marilyn was married to the love of her
life Clifferd Clayton VanRossun. They were blessed with six children:
Jennifer VanRossun Coleman of Newton, KS, Clint VanRossun (Isabel) of
Crossville, TN, Ky VanRossun of Newton, KS, Shane VanRossun of
Hutchinson, KS and Juli VanRossun Holler of Wichita, KS. Clifferd and
Marilyn made their home and raised their family in Moundridge, Kansas
where they lived almost the entirety of their 44 years of married
life. Marilyn was preceded in death by her devoted and loving
husband, and daughter Jill VanRossun Street.
Marilyn loved the Lord and was a long
time member of the Methodist Church in Moundridge. Marilyn grew up on
the Prouty homestead in rural Hesston which had been in the Prouty
family for over 100 years. She enjoyed the country life and helping
out with the daily chores of life on the farm. Her brothers and
sisters Robert ?Bob? Prouty, Jean Prouty Friesen, Elizabeth ?Liz?
Prouty Schierling, Theodore ?Ted? Prouty, Carol Prouty Rostetter,
and Mary Prouty Ballard have all preceded her in death. She is
survived by her youngest sibling and sister Donna Prouty Tatro of
McPherson, KS.
Marilyn loved being a homemaker, taking
care of her family, she enjoyed cooking and baking, family gatherings
for just a meal together, or for a birthday or holiday celebration,
flower gardening, reading her Bible, and taking care of the animals.
She also enjoyed helping run the family trucking business for many
years before Clifferd passed away. Blessed as a mother and
grandmother she is survived by her five living children, 14
grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. She also was preceded in
death by three grandchildren and Marilyn is survived by many nieces
and nephews.
Please join us in a celebration of her
life Thursday, August 25th at 10:00 am. Graveside services will be
held at the Mound Township Cemetery, 190 21st Ave., Moundridge, KS.
