Weldon O. Hershberger
HESSTON -- Weldon O. Hershberger, 76, of Hesston, farmer and trucker, died Wednesday (June 7, 2000) at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
He was born Nov. 20, 1923, in Milford, Neb., to Edward and Alma (Stauffer) Hershberger. He married Amy Janzen Sept. 27, 1949, in Hesston. She survives.
He was a member of Hesston Mennonite Church and a board member of Wichita Union Rescue Mission for 40 years.
He moved to North Dakota at the age of 13, moving to Hesston in 1953.
Other survivors include: three sons, Don Hershberger of Billings, Mont., Roger Hershberger of Richmond, Va., and Ron Hershberger of York, Pa.; two daughters, Kathleen Nightingale of Wichita and Sharon Taubert of Omaha, Neb.; four brothers, Vilas Hershberger and Tilman Hershberger, both of Hesston, Erlis Hershberger of North Newton and Abner Hershberger of Goshen, Ind.; four sisters, Lydia Hochstetler of Albany, Ore., Veva Garber of Goshen, Ind., Erma Janzen of Boise, Idaho, and Lila Garber of Lancaster, Pa.; and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services was Saturday at Hesston Mennonite Church with the Rev. John Murray officiating. Burial was in the Eastlawn Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with Youth With A Mission and Wichita Union Rescue Mission in care of the funeral home.
