Leona Ruth Dyck, 92, of Moundridge,
Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Moundridge Manor.
She was born on January 29, 1930 in rural Moundridge, Kansas, the
daughter Aaron Y. and Gertrude (Holdeman) Boeckner. She was raised
north of Hesston and lived in Halstead and Newton. Leona attended the
French School in rural Hesston. She was a member of the Gardenview
Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in rural Halstead. Leona was a
devoted homemaker. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Dyck on
April 24, 1955. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2013.
Leona is survived by her two sons, Paul
(Genelle) Dyck of Gruver, TX, and Eldon (Susie) Dyck of Paxton, NE;
daughters, Linda (Darryl) Koehn of Madrid, NE, Virginia (David) Koehn
of Sunray, TX, Nadine (Ed) Koehn of Halstead, and Donna (Ron) Wedel
of Burns, OR; three brothers, Gerald (Thelma) Boeckner of Walnut
Hill, FL, Weldon (Lois) Boeckner of Moundridge, Dennis (Eileen)
Boeckner of DeRidder, LA; five sisters, Mae Johnson of Brooksville,
MS, Vada Schmidt of Brooksville, MS, JoAnn (Andy) Powell of DeRidder,
LA, Rose (Paul) Toews of St Marys, Ontario, CA, and Lois (Fred)
Decker of Scott City; 22 grandchildren; and 66 great-grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and one
brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30
a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Gardenview Mennonite Church,
Halstead. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call
from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, September 20, at Moundridge Funeral Home
with family greeting friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the church.
