Brenda Joyce (Garnett)Harvey Newton, Kansas--Brenda Joyce (Garnett) Harvey, 56, homemaker, died Tuesday,
(Aug. 26, 1997) at her home. She was born Jan. 25, 1941, in Newton to Harry and
Edna Dickson Garnett. She married Howard Harvey on Aug. 5, 1965, in Newton.
He survives of Newton.
She was a member of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church of Hutchinson,
Newton Women Bowling Association director, first vice president of Bessie Evans
Women's Missionary Society of the church, officer of the Women's Missionary Society
and area No. 5 finance committee. She also was a former member of the Eastern Star
and former president and member of the Chancel Chior of the church.
Other suvivors include: one son, Justin Dean Harvey of Newton; one step-son Reggie
Harvey of Wichita; two step-daughters, Dawn Harvey Rainey and Krista Harvey Day,
both of Wichita; three brothers, Clayton Garnett of Los Angeles, Norris Dean Garnett
of Washington and Floyd "Skippy" Garnet of Newton; two sisters, Eileen Boyd of
Hutchinson and Jerri Lynn Tipton of Kansas City, MO.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church
in Newton with Rev. Shirley Heermance officating. Burial will be in the Greenwood
Cemetry. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until service
time Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal
