Juanita Leal, 93, died Sunday, Oct. 23,
2016, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. She was born Jan. 27, 1923,
in Florence to Jose Theodore and Conception (Reyes) Solis.
She attended Douglas Avenue Assembly of
God in Wichita and formerly attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in
Newton. Juanita enjoyed sewing, cooking and sharing her creations
with her family and friends. She also enjoyed dancing and being out
with friends. Juanita especially enjoyed spending time with her
grandchildren and following their activities.
She is survived by two sons, Anthony
Leal of Elkhard, Ind., and Richard Leal of Wichita; four daughters,
Rita Chavez, Teresa Jaso, Hope Leal and Leticia Leal, all of Wichita;
and stepdaughter Cookie Gonzalez of Newton. Juanita also raised her
granddaughter Erica Wilson, who lives in Charlotte, N.C., and she has
more than 30 grandchildren, more than 61 great-grandchildren and more
than 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Juanita was preceded in death by her
parents, son Joseph Leal, infant sister and three brothers.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m.,
Friday, Oct. 28, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Matt
Kruse presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at
Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. The family will pray a Rosary
at 6 p.m. at the chapel and receive friends until 8 p.m. following
the Rosary.
Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery
in Newton.
