Kris Elizabeth Porter passed away in a Katy hospital on December 23, 2022, at the age of 65 years. She was born on April 18, 1957, in Newton, Kansas, to Donald and Florence Claassen. Kris was
raised in Newton and in 1975, she graduated from Newton High School.
On February 15, 1976, she married Michael Porter in Newton and in 1990 they relocated to Canyon, Texas, where they resided until their retirement years brought them to Katy, Texas, to be closer
to their children and grandchildren.
Kris was a much-loved wife, Mom, and Oma, and her life revolved around her family. She was a retired homemaker and spent her time nurturing those she loved. She volunteered throughout her life
including teaching Sunday school, helping with Friends of the Library, and serving through pet therapy with her beloved dog, Jade, at nursing homes. She enjoyed all time spent with family, ocean cruises, trips to the beach
searching for seashells, adventures with her precious grandchildren, and concerts of her favorite artists including Aerosmith, Elton John, and Queen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Florence Claassen.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Michael Porter; children, Andy Porter and his wife Shannah, and their children, Arthur, Franklin and Beatrice; Angela Petty and her husband
Robin, and their children, Aven and Jada; Luke Porter and his husband Thomas Volz; sister, Keri Black and her daughter, Brigette; and her faithful companion, her dog Skye.
The family will hold private services.
