Obituary

Marguerite ?Maggie? Morgan peacefully passed away at Newton Presbyterian Manor on May 12, 2024.

On January 17, 1932, in Newton, Maggie was born to Brooks and Audrey (Winger) Terry. She had one brother, Frank. She graduated from Newton High in 1950 and married her high school and college sweetheart Richard ?Dick? Morgan on June 6, 1953. Maggie graduated from The University of Kansas School of Education in 1954.

Over the years, Maggie became an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and even taught school there. She and her husband Dick raised their family in Newton. In 1975, she began selling houses and later brokered Maggie Morgan Real Estate. She owned Century 21 Inc. and served our local community as a broker with Prudential Dinning-Beard and Berkshire-Hathaway until her retirement in 2017.

Maggie loved time with family and friends at Pete?s Puddle Lake, Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings, Bridge Club activities, and reading. She enjoyed trips to Kansas City to see her brother and family and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren grow up. Maggie took great pride in her roles as a mother, teacher, wife, business professional, and friend.

Maggie is survived by three sons, Mark (Jane) Morgan, John (Susan) Morgan, Michael (Sharon) Morgan; and two daughters, Catherine (Tim) Polley and Anne (Norman) Ellis. She leaves behind nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, husband Dick, daughter Terry (Morgan) Sheffler, grandson Nathan Martinez, and great-grandson Maverick Polley.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Peterson Funeral Home in Newton starting at 6 p.m. with the Rosary followed by family receiving friends until 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Newton. Father Bergkamp will preside. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Newton, following the mass. Memorial contributions may be made in Maggie?s honor to St. Mary Catholic Church, Newton, and left in the care of Peterson Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., Newton, KS 67114.
